mmWave Impulse Radar Technology for Bone Imaging

Print

Overview

Scientific healthcare scanning devices, such as X-ray machines, provide detailed images of bones and soft tissues, greatly facilitating accurate diagnoses. However, the operation of these bone scanning machines is typically restricted to trained professionals, such as radiologists or radiotherapists. This limitation can pose challenges for practitioners in traditional Chinese medicine and orthopedics, who may not have immediate access to these advanced diagnostic tools.
In response to this challenge, LSCM proposes the use of millimeter-wave (mmWave) impulse radar technology as a novel methodology for bone scanning. This approach aims to reconstruct bone shapes without the risks associated with biohazardous radiation. By utilizing an antenna array and mmWave impulses, LSCM plans to develop a cost effective receiver that will enable advanced imaging technology for the next generation of diagnostic tools.
