Project Title: | TCM DDS: Deep Vision Automation and Deliverbot Assisted Medicine Dispensary and Delivery System in TCM Hospital Logistics |
Hosting Institution: | LSCM R&D Centre (LSCM) |
Abstract: | HK will have the first Chinese medicine hospital opened in the 2024 year, with operation in a busy scale of 400 beds and 315 thousand outpatients a year. Expertized in applied technologies of AI, IoT, Robotics, the project group attempts the unique smart logistics problem of Chinese medicine handling in the new hospital. The objective is to research for a novel implementation for AIoT-assisted herbal medicine dispensary and deliverbot system that can cope with busy operations of future hospitals. Our research will be based on the vision and wish of the new hospital. Taking reference from the contemporary hospitals, adapting to the usual Chinese medicine practices, we shall innovatively develop the AIoT herbal picking system to assist the work of dispensing staff, and intelligent robots to deliver anywhere within the hospitals. Working units of conveyance, herbal dispensing assistant system and deliverbots will be built as system modules to add onto the hospital operations and to scale up with the hospital in the future. Chinese herbal medicine experts will join our research from HKU SPACE. HKU CS researcher will serve us consultancy in AI vision analytics. With the strong team, we shall work with Food and Health Bureau to study the new hospital’s case. Employing the strategy of modular design, we shall deliver a reference implementation as illustration for the efficiency and scalability considerations of the future hospital’s dispensary. |
