The Government of the Hong Kong SAR initiated the development of the Port Community System (PCS) earlier, with an aim to drive the digital transformation of the port community, enhance cross-sector information interconnectivity, and advance smart port development, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of Hong Kong’s maritime, port, logistics, and trade industries.
On 16 January 2026, the Transport and Logistics Bureau (TLB) and LSCM organised the PCS Roll-out Ceremony, marking the official launch of the PCS. The ceremony was officiated by Ms Mable CHAN, Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Mr Vic YAU, Permanent Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Miss Amy CHAN, Commissioner for Maritime and Port Development, Captain Hon Lothair LAM, Legislative Council Member, Mr Frankie YICK, member of the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Development Board, Ir Prof Alan LAM, Chairman of the LSCM Board of Directors, and Mr Simon WONG, Chief Executive Officer of LSCM. At the event, Transport and Logistics Bureau, LSCM, and FUNDel Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which signifies the collaboration among the three organisations to accelerate the integration of the PCS with logistics industry information platforms and explore the use of trusted cargo-flow data within the PCS to assist financial institutions in evaluating trade finance assessments of logistics SMEs.
The PCS offers one-stop, round-the-clock and real-time cargo tracking, it facilitates connectivity across sea, land, and air transport information, as well as providing analytics and alert functions. With the official launch of the PCS, the PCS Control Centre has also commenced operations, providing reliable support for the operation of the PCS. |
