Port Community System – Enhancing the competitiveness of Hong Kong’s port

LSCM has been dedicated to the research and development of innovative technology to foster the growth and sustainability of the logistics industry.  One of the most important initiatives of the Centre is supporting the Transport and Logistics Bureau (TLB) to develop the Port Community System (PCS). The PCS is crucial to the development of Smart Port in Hong Kong, which would foster the digital transformation of the logistics industry and thereby strengthening Hong Kong’s status as a global logistics hub.

This video highlights the important features and advantages of the PCS. The PCS, leveraging advanced technologies, is a one-stop platform providing round-the-clock real-time cargo tracking function and linking up the sea, land, and air transportation information. It allows the users to effectively track and visualise the global supply chain and port logistics, which would facilitate the flow and sharing of data among the stakeholders in the maritime, port and logistics industries.

The development of the PCS represents the concerted effort of the government, industry, and related stakeholders to collaborate and foster the sustainable development of the maritime and logistics industry.
