InnoCarnival 2023

The InnoCarnival 2023 organised by the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) took place on 28 October – 5 November. LSCM specially designed the 5G VR Remote Freight and Generative AI Photobot to let the visitors experience the latest technologies in a fun and interesting way. LSCM’s booth was one of the most popular booths at the event.

Prof Dong SUN, JP, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, The Government of the HKSAR, visited the LSCM booth to explore the Centre’s technologies and applications. The visitors enjoyed playing the two interactive games at LSCM’s booth.

The Launch of the Cross-boundary Public Services

The ceremony for the promulgation of the Hong Kong/Guangdong Cross-boundary Public Services Co-operation Achievements was held on 2 November, announcing the simultaneous launch of the Cross-boundary Public Services service area/thematic website of Guangdong and Hong Kong, which will enable residents and enterprises in Hong Kong and Mainland cities of the Greater Bay Area to access public services of the two places online.

In collaboration with Efficiency Office, LSCM is developing the Hong Kong Cross-boundary Public Services self-service kiosks, providing the public with a channel to access the Government’s e-Services.

The Government of the HKSAR plans to roll out the Hong Kong Cross-boundary Public Services self-service kiosks first in Guangzhou, and gradually cover the nine Mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area.

Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit 2023

This year’s Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES) 2023 was held on 23-26 November, providing a platform for the elderly service sector and the general public to explore and learn about various gerontechnologies.

At the expo, LSCM showcased the Centre’s gerontechnologies with demonstration, namely the 3D LiDAR Technology for In-Bed Monitoring Application, Ultra-Wideband Activity Level Monitoring System, Environmental Sensing Technology in Elderly Living Behavioural Anomaly Detection System, Home Potential Risk Recognition Robot, Infrared Thermal Sensing Safety Alert System, RFID-Tagged Vest & Gate Door System, as well as Smart Elderly Chatbot and Smart Elderly Service Robot, etc. In the 4-day expo, a lot of visitors from the elderly service sector and members of the public visited LSCM’s booth to experience the showcased technologies.

The Tele-practice Platform System enables the therapists to remotely deliver their services to the service users, such as assessment, training, case follow-up and evaluation. The visitors were interested in the Smart Elderly Chatbot showcased at the Expo.

LSCM received various awards at the 3rd Asia Exhibition of Innovations and Inventions Hong Kong

LSCM has achieved outstanding results at the 3rd Asia Exhibition of Innovations and Inventions Hong Kong organised by the Hong Kong Exporters’ Association (HKEA) and Palexpo, Geneva, which was held on 7 – 8 December.

The AI Vision Technology for Heat Source Detection to Enhance the Effectiveness of Automated Hill Fire Surveillance has received the Gold with Congratulations of Jury Award and also a special award, the Chinese Association of Inventions (CAI) Award. And the Automated Concrete Cube Testing System has received a gold award. The technologies that received the silver awards were the AIoT Herbal Picking and Delivery System for Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Vehicle Detection and Alert System for Better Mobility, RFID Device (Two-piece Device for Tolling Application), as well as Robo-9: Sensor Fusion Technologies for the Visually Impaired. The other award-winning technologies were the Baby Tag and Baby Tracking Management Control System and Tele-practice Platform System.

The LSCM team is excited to have received the acclamation again in this event and will continue to develop various innovative technologies to serve the industry’s and community’s needs.

The technology that received the Gold award was the Automated Concrete Cube Testing System developed in collaboration with Civil Engineering and Development Department. LSCM’s strength in technology R&D was again well recognised at the 3rd Asia Exhibition of Innovations and Inventions Hong Kong.
