The E&M I&T Day 2026 with the theme “AI+ Construction”, hosted by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD), was held on 9 June 2026 to explore the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the construction sector for enhancing productivity, construction management, and safety.
At the event, LSCM presented the project “Inertial Data & Video Reality Enabled Autonomous Navigation for Coordinated Quadruped Robot & Drone.” By integrating robotic dog and drone, the system can provide behaviour-based navigational tasks such as wall following and obstacle avoidance to replace repetitive manual tasks. It also offers the ability to patrol and monitor multiple floors of a building in an autonomous manner, as well as detecting potentially hazardous situations, such as the presence of an open fire door, malfunctioning lights, or the presence of leaking water. The visitors were interested in the deployment of this technology to enhance the efficiency at work. |
