Dr C.H. Cheng is currently a Director of Research and Technology Development at the Logistics and Supply Chain MultiTech R&D Centre. Prior to this position, he had been on the faculty of several universities in Hong Kong and the US. His recent research interest in Internet of Things has led him to develop applications in logistics and supply chain operations, and transport management. He has been supported by the Transport Department to develop a video analytics based smart traffic control system for Tai Tam Road (Dam Section). This system solves the long-standing traffic deadlock in this road segment. His work in a landslide detection and alert system has been funded by the Civil Engineering and Development Department. This system has been installed in many slopes in Hong Kong and provides early alerts to the residents in the areas in the event of a landslide. During his tenure at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, he had supervised the research work of 25 graduate students and actively participated in the research projects of both local and overseas researchers. He has published over 100 academic articles and has also served in several international journals as either an associate editor or a member of the editorial board.
