LSCM Logistics Summit Facilitates Exchange of Ideas and Networking

The LSCM Logistics Summit 2018 concluded successfully on 5 October 2018. This year, the Centre’s flagship annual event attracted more than 1,000 experts from industry, academia and the government to exchange their experience and insights. At the Summit, LSCM signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) for the development of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai Trade Facilitation Platform with The People’s Government of Zhuhai, which signifies closer collaboration between Hong Kong and Mainland China in trade development.

Heavyweights from the government and industry leaders were invited to give keynote speeches at the event. Technologies developed by LSCM and its partners were showcased to enhance the guests’ understanding of the Centre’s latest technology development and initiatives.

LSCM showcased its latest technologies at Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit 2018

LSCM participated in the Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES) held on 22 to 25 November 2018, which was organised by the Government of the HKSAR and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. GIES is a platform for drawing together stakeholders to engage in dialogues and collaboration in driving policy changes, as well as societal and economic developments in Hong Kong to embrace the opportunities brought about by ageing population.

At the expo, LSCM showcased its latest technologies and demonstrated how to deploy these technologies in elderly services. Thousands of visitors were attracted to the LSCM booth and enjoyed the trial of the new technologies such as Smart-service Robot, Elderly Lifter, UWB Monitoring System and “Follow Me” Wheelchair Robot. Mrs Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Chief Executive, also visited LSCM booth to learn more about how these technologies can help enhance the quality of life of the elderly.

LSCM’s “Follow-Me” Wheelchair Robot drew the attention of Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Nicholas W Yang, Secretary for Innovation and Technology and Mr Bernard Chan, Chairperson of HKCSS.

Visitors of GIES were interested in LSCM’s technology demonstration.

InnoCarnival 2018

Organised by the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC), the nine-day InnoCarnival 2018 was held at the Hong Kong Science Park from 3-11 November 2018.

LSCM specially designed two interactive games, the EEG Remote Control Robot and Creative Selfie Robot, for the public to experience the fun and convenience brought by innovation and technology. Mr Paul Chan Mo-po, Financial Secretary, as well as other distinguished guests visited LSCM booth to experience the two fun-filled games. LSCM booth was very popular throughout the nine days among visitors.

There were also wide media coverages about LSCM at the Carnival. For instance, the hosts of a TVB Programme visited LSCM booth and interviewed Mr. Simon Wong, Chief Executive Officer of LSCM, about the showcased technology.

The visitors enjoyed the two interactive games at LSCM booth.
