Partnership with DSS for Blockchain Research

Recently LSCM has partnered with Document Security Systems, Inc. (DSS) to work on a research project focused on developing a next generation of DSS’ Brand Protection products utilizing blockchain technology.

DSS, an NYSE American listed corporation, is a leader in anti-counterfeit, authentication, and diversion protection technologies whose products and solutions are used by governments, corporations and financial institutions to defeat fraud and to help ensure authenticity.

This joint research project between LSCM and DSS will develop potential solutions for a blockchain deployment within the supply chain. It can take years to build the supply chain and companies won’t adopt anti-counterfeiting solutions which are disruptive to existing processes and systems. This often keeps brand owners from implementing effective anti-counterfeiting solutions. Blockchain has the potential to provide a non-disruptive solution for anti-counterfeiting, especially when combined with DSS’ smartphone based authentication product – AuthentiGuard™. The research project will examine using blockchain as a service to secure product transactions across multiple channels, including retail and online distribution. It will focus on the use of multiple technologies including RFID and the DSS patented smartphone authentication product, AuthentiGuard.

LSCM is pleased to have the opportunity to work with DSS in this research project which is to adopt blockchain technology in supply chain security. The research results will help the industry in developing anti-counterfeit solutions and can be seamlessly deployed to safeguard brand integrity and ultimately to benefit the consumers. With the research collaboration between LSCM and DSS, there is also an enormous opportunity for DSS to apply their brand protection expertise to the Belt and Road Initiative, and strengthen their commercial presence in the Asia Pacific region.

LSCM Tech Partner Won Silver Award at Hong Kong ICT Awards 2018

Smart Mobility (Smart Logistics) Silver Award - Intelligent RFID-embedded Baggage Loading Robotics for Automated Baggage Reconciliation.

The Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has introduced a semi-automated robotic arm in departure baggage loading and reconciliation in 2017. EBSL, an RFID technology expert, invented and implemented a bespoke RFID device that integrates with this robotic arm. The RFID device is designed with multi-antenna, which is developed by LSCM, can automatically identify and verify every baggage loaded into the target flight and accurately records the specific ULD that houses the baggage–an important feature to comply with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Safety and Security Requirements. The increased automation in the baggage handling process also helps enhance workplace safety by reducing labour-intensive work. HKIA is the first airport in the world to pioneer this technology to achieve automated baggage reconciliation.
