LSCM Logistics Summit 2017 - “Logistics Robotics and Technologies for One Belt One Road”

 

The LSCM R&D Centre’s annual signature event - Logistics Summit 2017 will be held on 15 September at Grand Hall, Hong Kong Science Park. The theme for this year - “Logistics Robotics and Technologies for One Belt One Road”- will explore how robotics and other technologies create profound and positive impact on the logistics industry so as to embrace opportunities brought by the One Belt One Road Initiative. The Summit will bring together industry practitioners and representatives from related fields to explore and share inspiring insights in the related topics. The Summit also offers a platform for business networking, collaboration opportunity and technologies showcase. Detailed programmes will be announced shortly.

LSCM Extends Technologies to Multiple Industries
 
LSCM Shined at Gerontech & Innovation Expo cum Summit

 

The LSCM R&D Centre participated in the Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES) from 16 to 18 June, which was organised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. The aim of the event was to enhance public awareness on technology and innovation for the elderly and encourage the development and adoption of relevant solutions in Hong Kong.

At the expo, the LSCM R&D Centre showcased three elderly care robotic technologies including “Delivery Robot”, “Tele-health Robot” and “Food Printer” to help workers to take care of the elderly. In addition, the Centre also collaborated with 4 organisations, namely Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, Hong Kong Society for the Blind, Hong Kong Housing Society and Wing Wah Love Technology Services Limited, showcasing the technologies into use for ensuring the safety of elderly and improving their quality of life. 

Over hundreds of visitors were attracted to the LSCM booth and enjoyed the trial of using new technologies. Mrs. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, also visited LSCM booth to learn more about how these technologies can help enhance the quality of life of the elderly.
The booth received very favorable responses from the industry practitioners and visitors.

LSCM Awarded at 45th Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions

 

The LSCM R&D Centre has won a Gold Medal and two Silver Medals in the categories of “Computer Science, Software, Electronics, Electricity, Methods of Communication” at the 45th Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions held from 29 March to 2 April.

The three award winning technologies are collaborations of LSCM with the Hongkong Post, the Customs and Excise Department as well as the Hong Kong Monetary Authority respectively. RFID-enabled Parcel Locker System, which has won the gold medal, ensures every parcel placed at the right locker with the RFID technology, and the signal will be real time transferred to mail checking system, saving complicated checking procedures. E-Lock simplifies customs clearance procedure and brings trade facilitation to cross-boundary logistics flow. E-Cheque application which has won the silver medal, adopts the latest blockchain technology to provide a convenient and safe e-cheque transaction platform.

The three award-winning technologies have been widely used by the three government departments, saving much time, resources and manpower while citizens can also enjoy convenient services.

The LSCM R&D Centre and three collaborated organisations including the Hongkong Post, the Customs and Excise Department and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority joined “Reception for Awardees of 45th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva” on 11 May 2017 which was hosted by the Chief Executive of HKSAR to celebrate the encouraging result.

 
LSCM Surveying & Geomatics Technology Forum

 

The LSCM Surveying & Geomatics Technology Forum was successfully held on 2nd March with more than 150 guests coming from the sectors of Engineering, Surveying and Research Institutes, etc. The Forum was focused on the latest technology development at the land surveying area in Hong Kong with insightful sharing from the industry leaders and renowned professors. It provided a platform for the surveying industry and academia to exchange ideas and build network for further development.

Over 150 guests attended the Forum and exchanged ideas for development in surveying industry.
