Cloud Computing for Logistics Industry < Previous | Home | Next >

Managing the logistics network and services in Logistics and Supply Chain Industries has become more complex than ever before. Consequently, the corresponding IT solutions are progressively more demandable. However, companies can develop and monitor their logistics management system easier while using cloud computing.

All stakeholders of the logistics system can access the management system anytime, anywhere via the Internet, which can enhance real time tracking and coordination, in the meantime, the geographical limitation is relatively reduced.

Companies can also allocate their resources efficiently with the use of cloud computing. Through virtualisation of the servers, cloud service providers can satisfy user’s unexpectable system consumption with flexible use of services offered. As the servers are managed by the cloud service provider, the companies do not need to set their own servers and recruit IT specialists to manage the system. Hence, they can adjust the budget for the system according to their consumption, and it also lowers the barrier for new companies to enter the logistics industry.

Logistics management system acts as an effective platform for the whole supply chain to share information through cloud technology, which can help to unify the information and support visibility across the supply chain.
