The UHF RFID reader, which can be generally used in the retail industry, has been demonstrated with specific emphasis on its additional function in helping the visually impaired. The new UHF RFID reader not only satisfies most of the required functions in the retail industry including product authentication and stock taking, but its low cost and portable size features also make the application much more economically. Its wide use in helping the visually impaired to read menu and identify product would support the retailers to develop the niche market segment.
