RFID for Retail & Logistics Industry
Description
With successful completion of the project titled “RFID Enabling Technologies for Retail & Logistics Industry” by the E-Business Technology Institute at the University of Hong Kong, four sets of technology are made available for licensing.
Applying RFID technology in retail and logistics industry becomes more popular than ever, both industries collect data by using different RFID frequencies under unique environment and constraints. In the retail industry, high-frequency RFID tags (HF 13.56MHz) has been promoted for real-time counting the number of products on shelves and in conjunction with other systems such as customer relationship management (CRM) for different data collection analysis. In the logistics industry, ultra-high frequency RFID tags (UHF 920-925MHz) are put on the carton boxes and pallets to make it more efficient and transparent to read the logistics and supply chain information.
The state-of-the-art RFID software technology allows systems operators to configure, monitor and manage readers through a user-friendly interface. RFID leverages multiple system control mechanisms to manage different radio frequency. The technology is further equipped with data analysis and filtering features to enhance the ability to obtain accurate RFID data.
